Sleep Health Assessment

Introduction

Why You Should Take This Assessment

Take this assessment to see if you have a disturbed sleep pattern. The answers will help you understand what might cause sleep problems and offer suggestions for how to get more rest.

Everyone needs to get a good night's sleep on a regular basis. Without it, you feel tired the next day and can't perform daily tasks as well. Getting too little sleep for weeks or months increases the risk for automobile accidents and work-related injury (especially if you work in a dangerous job). Chronic lack of sleep can also have long-term effects on your health and may even shorten your life. People who don't get enough sleep on a regular basis have an increased risk for high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. Sleep

Sleep requirements vary from person to person, but an average adult needs about 7 to 9 hours of sleep each night. Children need even more. About 40% of adults get less than 7 hours of sleep a night.

People with sleep difficulties often don't talk to their health care providers about it. If you have a sleep disturbance, tell your provider. It may be due to a medical or psychological problem that can be treated. If you get proper help for a sleep disorder, you may be more productive, happier, and healthier.
