Last month, we asked you to tell us about you (or your child’s) creepiest, funniest, weirdest or simply most awesome Halloween costume ever. The results were spook-tacular! You revealed being a robot, Spiderman, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, a boo-tiful witch, a giant pumpkin, Elvira, a Dalmatian puppy, all the characters from "The Wizard of Oz" and even J. R. R. Tolkien's creepy Gollum.
"My sister and I had matching pumpkin costumes when we were in grade school. They even had a little stem hat," one of our survey participants told us. Another related how her baby niece was dressed as a crab for her first Halloween. Her mom carried her around in a huge soup pot while the toddler held on to a giant spoon.
Several survey respondents fondly recalled comic book costumes – one dressed as the wicked Devilina, another as Mega Man and still another transformed herself into Pebbles from "The Flintstones". More faves: a Calvin costume (from the comic strip "Calvin and Hobbes"), a scuba diver, the Bride of Chuckle and a big blue M & M.
Some of you shared amazingly original get-ups, too. For example, there was a Run-on Sentence costume (consisting of a white t-shirt and sweatpants with a looooong sentence written all over it in black marker) and a Static Cling costume, too (created by wearing black pants and a shirt covered with dryer sheets). Another survey participant dressed as Poison Bloody Popcorn, complete with spider webs and spiders. And there was a two-person combo costume with one child dressed as an elephant and the other as a peanut.
Adam E. was selected at random from everyone who answered the survey to receive a $50 Visa gift card. Back in l980, Adam and his brother dressed as little boy versions of the motorcycle cops Ponch and John from the TV show "CHiPS", wearing helmets, badges, toy guns, sunglasses and police shirts made by their mom.
Congrats to Adam and thanks to everyone who participated in our survey.
