Last month, we asked about your favorite snack foods. Although you had the chance to anonymously admit to scarfing down Twinkies and hot fudge sundaes, it turns out most of you prefer reasonably healthy snack choices. Good for you (and your waistline)!
Chocolate was the number one snack choice and research has shown that’s not a bad choice at all, in moderation. Chocolate is loaded with antioxidants and other healthy phytonutrients.
The next most popular snack items were fruit and mixed nuts, followed by popcorn. Chips, pretzels, raw veggies, and granola bars ranked next as favorite snacks. Candy bars and cereal rounded out the top ten list. Less than five percent of you indulge in doughnuts and only one solitary Synergy survey participant admitted to a Twinkie habit.
Synergy readers also sent in a lot of write-in snack choices, some of which sound downright delicious like fruit smoothies and apple slices with peanut butter. Our survey winner, Christine C., told us she loves to snack on hummus with pita bread and pretzels with spicy cheese dip. Sounds yummy!
Christine was picked at random from all our Synergy survey participants to receive a $50 Visa gift card. Thanks to everyone who participated and happy munching!
