ENTERING YOUR INFORMATION

Studies have shown that certain body shapes are linked to higher risks for health problems such as heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. Your body shape is determined by the size of your waist in relation to the size of your hips. This is called the waist-hip ratio. Use the calculator above to find out your body shape and any related health risks.

This Waist-to-Hip Calculator is for middle-aged men and women. It may not apply to young children, older adults, or pregnant women.

Measure Yourself First

To use the calculator, measure your waist and hips using a measuring tape.

For your waist size, measure the narrowest part of your torso. If you can't find it, measure around at your belly button. Do not suck in your stomach.

For your hip size, measure around the widest part of your hips.
